Emergency Communications Exercise - August 22, 2024

Volunteer Amateur Radio Communicators Needed!

The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office of Emergency Services is coordinating a large-scale radio communications exercise for the CalOES Coastal Region (16 Counties) on Thursday, August 22. This exercise will simulate the loss of conventional communication modes (phone, SMS text, Internet, etc.) following a seismic event on the Cascadia Subduction Zone and may involve up to 16 counties.

The Humboldt Auxiliary Communications Team is participating in this exercise. In addition, local OES Operational Area partners, such as CERT groups, Red Cross, HARC and others are also invited to participate. On the day of the exercise, participating partners will be asked to submit field reports via amateur radio.
