The goal of Winter Field Day is to help amateur radio operators improve their preparedness for disasters and enhance their operational abilities. The winter months present unique challenges for operating, including shorter days, the potential for freezing temperatures, snow, ice, and other hazards.

The annual Winter Field Day Exercise is not a contest but a practical field exercise designed to push emergency preparedness skills to the limit and test capabilities in diverse and demanding conditions. By setting up a station away from the comforts of home, you can significantly enhance your readiness for disasters and improve your operating skills in challenging environments.

The Humboldt Amateur Radio Club has arranged for overnight use of Redwood Acres Fairgrounds in Eureka for Winter Field day operations. Please come and join us anytime from 7:00 am Saturday January 24 until the end of the event on Sunday at 2:00 pm. We will have our mobile communications trailer other stations during the event.

Help is especially appreciated for set-up on Saturday and take-down on Sunday.  Thanks.
